2010 - Men of Service - Love, Relationships & Family
Greatness in God's Kingdom isn't measured the same way we measure greatness in our world. In fact, it is almost the opposite. You become great by humbling yourself and serving others. And the perfect example is Jesus ... the one who came to serve and give his life.
We hope you will be challenged and inspired about how you can better serve in your family, in your church and in your community.
Our goals in running mkc are simple:
1. To see men growing strong in their commitment to the Lord Jesus.
2. To see men giving God-honouring leadership in marriage, family, church, work and community.
3. To encourage vital men's ministries in the local church.
4. To see men winning men to Christ.
We hope that you will be challenged and encouraged from God's word to be more like Jesus ... who came not to be served, but to serve. Our speakers this year are John Dickson & Gary Millar.
2009 - Men of CourageAt mkc this year we're looking at the book of Daniel - a book that gives a great encouragement to be faithful men of God when it would be easier to go with the flow. We are very fortunate to have Simon Manchester and Al Stewart taking us through this book. We are also fortunate to have a few modern day "Daniels" with us at mkc09. John Anderson and Andrew Scipione are two men with an uncompromising faith in Jesus who have risin to high public office in this land. We will hear from them in Tin Shed Time.
We hope that you will hear these talks and be challenged and encouraged from God's word to be more faithful as you seek to follow Jesus.
2008 - Making the Tough Choices <Men of Faith>That was the phrase ringing in the ears of men as we headed back down the mountain after mkc07. Andrew Heard's challenge and Frank Retief's wise advice were the highlights of last year for thousands of blokes.
This year, the challenges are ahead of us. The roud till next December may be rocky for you - February may have already started out that way. The old hymn asks "Will your anchor hold in the storms of life?" In Australia, we often face the opposite problem. Life can be too good. We can have little trouble and much prosperity. In those circumstances, will you be equipped to make the tough choices for God? Will you be a man of Faith?
We on the organising committee hope you will be greatly encouraged and built-up by these talks. We hope you are stirred up by what Richard, Kanishka and Anthony have to say.
We'd love you to use mkc08 as a springboard for the year in your men's group.
We've been praying that mkc08 will be a great strengthener for you.
2007 - One great lifeOne thing has not changed – our need for God's word and fellowship with other men. In fact, it is more vital than ever! As MKC turns 10, we've called on the man who spoke at our first convention, Frank Retief, to help us see from 1 John how we can "walk in the light". Andrew Heard will speak from Matthew 16 on how we find life when as we follow Jesus. Practical, man-to-man teaching on that One Great Life.
2006 - Telling It Like It Really Is.This year at MKC we'll be looking at Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. We'll be hearing what he has to say about life, love, possessions, values and priorities. No beating around the bush. No side tracks. NO watered down truth, NO mumbo jumbo, but an honest assessment of the way things are and the way they should be from Jesus himself. David Cook and Mike Raiter will be leading our studies, so we hope you can join us for what promises to be a very challenging weekend.
2005 - By the Sweat of Your Brow
2004 - True Grit: Standing Firm And Pressing ForwardWe need that same grit to live the Christian life. Our prayer is that MKC 2004 will be an encouragement to us to live as God's men with a faithful determination.
We welcome our speakers, Phillip Jensen, Simon Manchester and David Cook.
2003 - A Wakeup Call: Men In The Last DaysEver since Jesus ascended to heaven we have been living in one period of time the Bible refers to as the Last Days. But how do we live appropriately in these days? What particular truths will it be helful for us to focus on? What responses do these times demand from us? These are some of the questions we will address over the weekend recognising as Paul said to the Romans "The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed." (Romans 13:1)
2002 - Follow That ManMark 8:34-35 - Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and the gospel will save it."
Notice Jesus doesn't point and say, go that way, but says follow me, walk the path I have walked.
Jesus' promises to those who follow Him are a life of service, and struggle and pain of laying down their lives for others, just as He did. But He also promises that in follwoing Him they will find true life, true purpose, and an eternal inheritance that will never fade.
As men in Australia today we need to hear Jesus call clearly. It is a call that will revolutionise who and waht we live for. A call to know and follow Him and so live a life with value even into eternity.
We have three gifted Bible teachers - Richard Coekin, Time Meyers and Dudley Foord - to lead us as we look at Jesus' words in Mark's Gospel, at what it means to understand the love of Christ and why "it's finishing that matters".
2001 - The Man Who Makes The Difference
2000 - Finishing StrongWe welcome our speakers - Ravi Zacharias, Glenn Davies, Ian Powell and Phillip Jensen.
1999 - Men, Love and Leadership1 John is a call to all men - to love and to leadership. "And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God mus also love his brother." (1 John 4:21)
We welcome our speakers - Al Stewart, Bryson Smith and Phillip Jensen.
1998 - Building Real MenFaithful and practical Bible teaching and encouraging Christian fellowship is what this Men's Convention is all about.
We welcome our Speakers - Don Carson, David Mansfield and Ian Powell and pray we will all be challenged as they explain the Bible's teaching on maturity, family relationships, stability and the Gospel that makes "new men".
1997 - The Marks Of A Christian ManThere has been a great need for a Convention like this. We meet at a time when men are increasingly confused about their own identity and role in society, at work and at home.
We welcome our speakers - Frank Retief, Ray Galea adn David Cook - who will seek to bring clarity in place of this confusion.
The model of Christian manhood is Jesus Christ and the dynamic to bring that model into greater reality in our business, social and family lives is His gospel.
