2009 - Designer Women 2009 - Designer Women
The Association of Model Agents used to list the ideal measurements for models as 35-24-35 (90-60-90 cm). These measurements were allegedly based on Marilyn Monroe’s measurements. Marilyn Monroe was considered the ideal of women, but as we open the Bible we’ll see not what we should look like in the world’s eyes, but who we actually are in God’s sight and what we were designed for.

Our 3 speakers, Alli, Claire and Carmelina are going to take us on a wonderful tour of the first three chapters of Genesis to explain the designer’s purpose for us women. Hopefully, after listening to these talks you will have God’s answers to the big questions women have always asked:

Who am I? Who made me? Why? Am I random?
Am I designed or just thrown together? Why am I sometimes so obnoxious?
Is this all there is or is there something better for me?

2008 - The Complete Woman 2008 - The Complete Woman
What would it take to make you a complete woman? Life tells us be rich, be beautiful, be happy. But God tells us to: be ‘in Christ’. Great, that’s me, I hear you say. But what does it take to make you a complete Christian? What else do you need besides Christ?

The book of Colossians answers that question. If trusting Christ alone is the way that we came to know God, then we need to continue to trust Christ alone in order to keep on knowing God. What wonderful freedom to know that all I have to do is trust Christ!

Lizzy and Kara will take us on a stunning journey through Colossians where we will be confronted by “the fullness of God” - the Lord Jesus himself, complete spirituality, complete thanksgiving, complete relationships, complete living and complete forgiveness. It is our prayer that by the end of these talks you will know how you are truly complete…in knowing the “fullness of God” himself!

2007 - To A Different Drum 2007 - To A Different Drum
If someone were to look over your back fence or sit at your kitchen table, would they see any discernible difference between you and your unbelieving neighbours? If they could observe the way you relate to your family, your firends or your colleagues, would the notice anything diferent? If they talked with you abou the future, would they hear anything different? If they watched you suffer, would they see any real difference between you and the next person?

All around us people are walking to the beat of the world's drum. Its hard not to fall in step but as Christians we have been called to live to a different drum ... God's drum. In these talks, as God's word is preached we'll have opportunity to hear and think about the ways in which God's drum differs from that of the world.

We pray that you'll be refreshed and equipped, challenged and rebuked, encouraged and spurred on to live to His drum.

2006 - Jesus Uncut - Meeting the real Jesus 2006 - Jesus Uncut - Meeting the real Jesus
'Then he isn't safe' said Lucy

'Safe?' said Mr Beaver, 'Don't you hear what Mrs Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the king, I tell you.' (CS Lewis, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe [Geoffrey Bles, 1950])

It's so easy to have a sanitised, domesticated picture of Jesus, who fits comfortably in a corner of our busy lives. As we look as the Bible together, we'll learn about Jesus in all his true, uncut glory. We'll be both confronted by his call to radical discipleship and comforted by his compassion.

What we think of Jesus matters - we need to get it right. Our prayer this weekend is that you will see the real Jesus afresh and be strengthened in commitment to following him.

2005 - Looking Out 2005 - Looking Out
Looking in or looking out? What are you better at?

It's so easy to spend our whole lives preoccupied with ourselves - spending all our time, money and energy on making our lives better

Yet the God of the whole universe... the God who made us and owns us... always looks out. His every thought and action is driven by passionate, costly, self sacrificial love... even to the death of His only Son, Jesus.

What a God we serve. And yet what a challenge it is... to follow in His footsteps.

Our prayer is that you will be struck afresh by the character of our God, and committed afresh to be 'looking out'.

2004 - Walking with the Lord 2004 - Walking with the Lord
We hope that you are looking forward to all that Olive Cotter, Ainsley Poulos and Chris Quirk will teach us from God's Word.

There is nothing more important than Walking with the Lord. We've been praying over the past year, and our prayer is this:

That you will stand firm in the truth of the gospel, trusting in God's soverign care in all aspects of your life, growing to know the Lord Jesus better and living a life characterisied by love and obedience to Him.

May you be struck anew by the incredible priviledge of knowing the Lord, and so learn to walk with Him with greater joy, commitment and consistency in your daily life.

2003 - Pure and Blameless 2003 - Pure and Blameless
Imagine being pure and blameless. No sin to regret. No fear of accusation. Nothing to be ashamed of. Wouldn't that be wonderful? Ever since the garden of Eden, it seems but a pipe dream ...

Before the world was ever created, God's plan was to have a special people who would be pure and blameless. Without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. It seems impossible?

We have six exciting talks which will explore God's plan to make us pure and blameless. We will see that everything hangs on the life, death and resurrection of God's Son Jesus.

Ley Beng Kwok will explain God's plan from Ephesians (3 talks); Di Warren will speak on the 'Essential Wardrobe' (2 talks) and Amelia Clarke will lead a provoking seminar on "Soul mates: fact or fiction?"

Our prayer is that God would use these talks to strenghten your trust in Jesus, and equip you to serve Him with all your life.

2002 - Peace in Chaos 2002 - Peace in Chaos
'In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.' (John 16:33)

Jesus lived in the real world. When He spoke to His followers about trouble, He fully understood the problems and stresses that shape our human existence. He knew the seemingly chaotic circumstances that were ahead of His disciples, and the greatest turmoil of all that lay ahead of Him at the cross.

Yet Jesus knew the way to peace. Whether heard with 1st Century or 21st Century ears, Jesus' words offer great hope.

As we hear from Trish Johnson (John 15-16), Greta Gaut (Psalms) and Elizabeth Foord (Living through the tough times), we will learn how to have peace in chaos.

So no matter what lies ahead, our prayer is that you will be refreshed and equipped to live a life permeated by the peace of God.

2001 - God's Word: Wisdom for Living 2001 - God's Word: Wisdom for Living
Our Theme, "God's Word: Wisdom for Living" emphasises the importance of knowing the Scripture if we are to live as godly women. We are looking forward to hearing three talks on Titus from Lesley Ramsay, two talks on Habakkuk from Jenny Salt, and a seminar on Worldly Wisdom led by Carmelina Read.

We pray that God will speak to every one of us through His Word. Our hope is that we don't just leave with a better knowledge of the Bible but that we also take away something that will make a difference in our lives.

We encourage you to mentally set aside all your normal responsibilities, be still before the Lord and let the Holy Spirit speak to you.
